A little bit farther every day

Yesterday was my birthday and we had such a nice day.  Ben let me sleep in for an hour (even though he had to work) and it was wonderful!  The girls were relatively well-behaved and we went out to dinner with our friends Lorry and Emma at Khan's Mongolian BBQ.  Ben got me a gift certificate to my favorite salon so I'm going there on Saturday for a manicure and haircut.  I can't wait!  My friend Stacy got me a gift certificate to our nearby nail salon and she offered to watch the girls so I went and got a pedicure today.  Pedicures are my favorite and it was nice to get away for an hour.

Juliette is really close to full out walking.  She can take more than a few steps now before she falls and even took about 10 in a row today!  My baby is growing up!  Lily is working on standing and she can stand for a few seconds if she tries.  She's much more cautious though and Juliette doesn't care about falling so that makes a big difference I think.

The girls have been having diarrhea for a couple of weeks now and I haven't really been concerned because I know viruses happen but I called the nurse line today and wondered when I should start getting worried.  She told me to give them yogurt and come in since it had already been two weeks.  I gathered up the kids and went to the doctor this afternoon only to be told that they wouldn't do anything because it hasn't been long enough.  She was really condescending to me too when I tried to explain my frustration of being told to come in and then wasting a $30 copay for them to do nothing.  At least we got their weights.  Lily is up to 14 lbs, 12 oz and Juliette is 17 lbs 9 oz.  They're still around 3 pounds apart!

Speaking of doctors, Maia has athlete's foot right now and she's had it for a couple of months.  We went in and they prescribed Nystatin and we used the whole tube and it didn't work.  We then got a prescription for a stronger cream and it still isn't getting better.  I'm hoping we can figure out what's going on and how to fix it before the problem starts getting worse.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but our house contingencies have all been cleared!  We are trying to schedule our move for next week and then we'll close on July 15.  We're excited to get it done and move on.

We accepted an offer!

Well, not too bad.  We were on the market for 2.5 weeks, had two showings and one offer.  The first offer we got was terrible but we countered and their second counter offer was much more reasonable.  We accepted it and now we're just waiting to (hopefully) pass the inspection and then we'll start moving out.  We don't close until July 15th but it gives us time and it gives them time so it's okay.  At least our current mortgage payment is really low!

We're still selling the house for less than what we paid for it but considering the market right now it's probably a fair price and we'll get a little bit back to pay for some of the things we already did to the new place.

Two rooms for the babies, here we come!  Woohoo!

Standing alone!

So yesterday marked another milestone for Juliette.  She's been standing on her own for about a week now but Friday was the first day I saw her get to standing from the floor.  She likes to practice every chance she gets and it's great to see her progress.  It's funny to me how the girls switch off who does things first but I like it better that way.  I'm sure Lily will be here in no time!  Juliette has also started walking with me when she holds my hands.  I don't have to nudge her anymore, she just starts going.  It's exciting!

Today is Ben and my 6th anniversary.  I can't believe it's been 6 years already and we've been together for 10!  Time goes by so fast.  My wonderful parents babysat and it was the first time that Ben and I got to go out alone on a "date" and it was great.  We went to Benihana and then to Home Valu (I know) to look at stuff to bid on for their going out of business auction.

We had another showing on our house on Friday.  They really liked it and we're on their "short list" so we'll see what happens.  I'm really hoping for a good offer!  I know they were looking at more houses this weekend but we're still optimistic.

Updates

It's been a busy week, sort of.  Actually, it hasn't really and I think that's the problem.  Since we listed our house we were sure that we'd have tons of showings and that everyone would want it but that just hasn't been the case.  We listed a week and a half ago and already dropped the price by $10,000 since we had no showings.  After we dropped the price we had one showing the day the tax credit expired but nothing came of that and we've had nothing all weekend and since then.  It's discouraging because we really would love to get into the new house and close this chapter in our lives but I have a feeling it's going to linger for awhile.

Speaking of the new house, we headed over there yesterday and decided to check out the neighborhood.  We took our mongo stroller and headed for a walk to the secret park.  There is a pathway between two houses that takes you through a lot of trees and past a little pond.  We saw lots of ducks and a momma duck with her babies.  Maia loved it!  We then played at the park for awhile and after a major meltdown, headed back to the house where we just hung out in the backyard for awhile.  Lily and Juliette really enjoyed sitting on the grass and eating dirt. It was a nice afternoon.

The girls have been doing pretty good lately.  Lily is sleeping pretty good and Juliette is sleeping a little bit better so i can be thankful for that.  We have our Early Intervention meeting this week where we'll discuss where we want to go from here and develop a new plan for the girls.  They're doing so well but there is always room for improvement!

We had dinner with Ron, Kathryn, Annabelle and James on Saturday and  James is only 7 weeks old but he only weighs about a pound or two less than Lily is now!  That's incredible to me.  She's little but she's feisty!

I'm hoping for some more showings this week.  If not though I think the weather is supposed to be nice so some walks are in order.  It's so nice to get out of the house sometimes.
